The Hybrid Dilemma: Performance, Motivation and the Generational Gap
A new white paper released by LAMPartnership reveals a growing mismatch between workplace models and workforce needs — with hybrid proving to be where people do their best work. But while hybrid is here to stay, not all generations are thriving equally.
The report, The Hybrid Dilemma: Performance, Motivation and the Generational Gap, draws on insights from over 1,000 white-collar workers across the UK and Ireland and finds that while Millennials are thriving in hybrid (52% strongly agree they do their best work), this figure drops to just 34% for Gen Z and 37% for Gen X).
Rather than a call to retreat, the findings send a clear message: hybrid is working — just not for everyone, yet. Critically, the research shows that returning to the office full time is not the solution. In fact, office-first models are linked to an 11% performance decline — and when the set-up is completely rigid, the productivity drop deepens to 25% , compared to flexible hybrid setups.
